Unlike many other people, Rodney couldn’t wait when he received his notice for jury duty. He freed up his day, prepared his alarm and was out driving to the courthouse at the crack of dawn.

Then he arrived.

“Yes, they settled out of court.”

That was good, Rodney decided. “It took me half an hour to drive here. Why didn’t anyone call me?”

“We just did.”

“But I’m here now. On time.”

Rather than argue with the receptionist, Rodney decided to make the most out of his day off. This didn’t stop him from being slightly disappointed that he wouldn’t get to watch a real life court procedure.
