He picked up his brush and raised it up. Then lowered it. Then raised it again.
She worried her lower lip and tried not to move. After a minute though, she gave up. “Are you going to paint me or not?”
He startled, honestly surprised. “Of course I am!”
“Then start? Maybe? I’m giving you my entire afternoon. Seeing that you don’t know how to start really makes me rethink that decision.”
He sighed, rubbing at his forehead. “I apologize.” Once again, he raised his brush. He didn’t lower it again, but it didn’t look like he was moving it.
Her anger left. “Is it… me? Am I doing something wrong?”
“I don’t know how best to capture your beauty.”
The room turned quiet.
Then, she sighed. “If you think that is getting you more than a modeling session, you’ve got another thing coming.”
“I was hoping it might get me two modeling sessions.”
“Then don’t waste this one.”
With a smile on his face, he began to paint.
